Activites at the Woodland Play Centre

The Woodland Play Centre is located in Crowcombe, using a variety of private local woodlands depending on the activities and the impact on the environment / landscape. Crowcombe is a small village nestling into the Quantock Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). - just off the A358 that runs between Taunton and Minehead.

“This jigsaw of varied landscapes gives the Quantock Hills a distinctive character that includes its historic and cultural elements, scenic beauty and upland nature and the range of wildlife interest present.” ( www.quantockhills.com )

We have access to varied wild spaces; open moorland, woodlands, streams, and rough terrain for children’s; touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing, to be stimulated by their natural surroundings. Within societies current climate it is of great importance to promote and raise awareness of local, national and world wide environmental issues and impacts.

Currently, we use a base and a compost toilet known as a ‘Thunderbox’, so facilities are basic but sufficient! This also leaves us the flexibility to choose where we set up camp each day.

The long awaited 'Thunderbox' mobile compost toilet has finally arrived!

In a society surrounded by global warning, sustainable living and environmentally friendly produce, the Woodland Play Centre has secured funding from Business Link Somerset and Quantock Hills Sustainable Development Fund to invest in this mobile compost toilet.

Although it is early days with it only arriving in May it has had a number of inquisitive neighboring visitors already, including the chickens from the field!! It is hoped to get to a point in the near future where it can be hired for local events and functions.

If you are interested please contact Louise to discuss on info@woodlandplaycentre.com or alternatively view the 'Thunderboxes2go' website from the link page.

Please check the location of an event when booking, do not assume it always takes place at the same venue.

It is possible to run a programme or event at any location subject to suitability. Just contact us to ask!
